I'm Cara Eyre, and Locks of Hair started the way a lot of good things do: people kept asking me where to find extensions that actually last. After 35+ years behind the chair, I had a lot of opinions, so I built a place to share them and to sell only the pieces I'd genuinely put on a client, extensions, wigs and toppers alike. Everything you read here, I wrote. Every product we carry, I chose.
Our Story
I started in hair in 1987, trained at Kimiko's School of Cosmetology in Vernon, BC and hired right out of school at fifteen by Kimiko herself, the school and salon owner. From there I worked salons across the BC interior, Vernon, Nelson, then Creston, doing colour, cuts, makeup, and extensions, before settling in Calgary where Locks of Hair is based today.
Good hair is really about confidence. The moment a colour matches, a topper sits right, or an install finally blends, you can see someone relax. That is the whole point. Locks of Hair came from one idea: everyone should be able to buy quality hair extensions, wigs and toppers online without the guesswork and the disappointment that usually comes with it, and that matters most on the hair-loss side of this work, where getting it wrong hurts. So every piece you see here has been tested, worn, and approved by someone who has spent a career learning what holds up and what falls apart.
Meet Cara Eyre, your hair extension expert
At the heart of Locks of Hair is me. I write the guides, answer your questions, and yes, I've tried nearly everything we sell. The model you see in the photos across this site is me too. I won't show you a result I haven't worn myself.
I trained at Kimiko's in Vernon and have held my BC cosmetology license since 1988, and I bring 35+ years of hands-on artistry to every recommendation on this site. My focus is luxury extensions, wigs, toppers, and custom looks that hold up in real life. Dreadlocks are a particular specialty of mine, the work my OKdreads community knows me for. Every result comes down to the same things: precision, a good colour match, and making you feel like yourself with better hair. I keep learning new techniques and passing along what actually works, one look at a time.
